As for Leonardo DiCaprio himself, he too isn’t particularly interested in appearing in a superhero movie.

The ‘Titanic’ star had actually been in the running to play Robin in 1995’s ‘Batman Forever’, though DiCaprio “didn’t feel ready to put on the suit” at the time.

A few years later, the actor was offered the role of the titular hero in Sam Raimi’s 2002 movie ‘Spider-Man’, though DiCaprio turned it down - allowing Tobey Maguire to swoop in and take the part instead.

However, DiCaprio has since said he hasn’t completely shut the door on the superhero genre, reasoning the stories and character arcs are becoming more compelling.

He explained: “You never know. They’re getting better and better as far as complex characters in these movies.

“I haven’t yet [said yes to a superhero film]. But no, I don’t rule out anything.”
