Liza Colon-Zayas’ shock win
Elizabeth Debicki wasn’t the only star to have been taken by surprise at their win, as Liza Colon-Zayas also thought it wasn’t "possible" she would walk away from the ceremony with an award.
The 52-year-old actress bested Meryl Streep (‘Only Murders in the Building’), Carol Burnett ('Palm Royale’), Hannah Einbinder (‘Hacks’) and ‘Abbot Elementary’s Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph to triumph in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category for her portrayal of Tina Marrero in ‘The Bear’.
Taking to the stage to accept the award, she said: "Thank you to my husband David Zayas, he told me to write a speech and I didn't because I didn't think it would be possible. How could I have thought it would be possible to be in the presence of Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett, and Janelle, and Sheryl Lee Ralph and Hannah, anyway, I love you all, I revere you to the bottom of my heart."
