Noel likened the 'Someone You Loved' singer to the Star Wars character Chewbacca for his hirsute appearance - although Lewis took the barbs in his stride by wearing a t-shirt with Gallagher's face on at Glastonbury and changing his Twitter profile name to 'Chewis Capaldi'.

Noel told Variety in 2019: "Chewbacca should enjoy his 15 minutes. The greatest day of his life that I s****** him off or called him an idiot. It’s the greatest day of his life so far. He’s just thinking, ‘Wow!’

"Well, I know you’re Scottish and all that, but f****** hell! It is like a third world country, but for f**** sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely!"
