One scene was nearly impossible

Director Nick Cassavetes wasn't going to say no for an answer when producers told him it wouldn't be possible to get the ducks surrounding Noah and Allie for their romantic boat scene.

However, the filmmaker made it possible by hatching the birds on the lakeside himself.

It's one of the most beautiful nature scenes in the movie.
