Conchita Wurst - Rise Like a Phoenix

Austrian drag queen Conchita Wurst - real name Thomas Neuwirth - won the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’.

Conchita became a gay icon across Europe as Austria’s entry.

For Conchita, the win was not just for them, but the whole LGBTQ community.

Conchita said: “It was not just a victory for me but a victory for those people who believe in a future that can function without discrimination and is based on tolerance and respect."
