With a whopping budget of $90 million, 'Men in Black' had to hit big numbers at the box office.

The movie didn’t struggle to attract audiences at all and ended its theatrical run banking nearly $590 million, leaving Sony keen to get a sequel in the works as soon as possible - which would ultimately be released five years later.
