Psycho
Spielberg was in awe of Alfred Hitchcock’s work in the '60s and '70s. He even tried to get onto the set of two of his films before being kicked out by security. ‘Psycho’ was the first modern horror film ever made, when it was released in 1960 and influenced huge parts of Spielberg’s own 1975 horror film ‘Jaws’ with its use of music, filming from the killer’s point of view and extreme, graphic violence.
