Sandler rewrote the script five times

Sandler and Herlihy asked pro golfer Mark Lye to consult on the script to ensure the sports scenes were realistic. However, he had a lot of issues with their initial ideas and suggested many changes to the story. He eventually signed off on Sandler and Herlihy’s fifth draft.
