He has had several roles at Watford FC
The avid Watford FC supporter became the football club's chairman in 1976 and is still Honorary Life-President.
Elton was chairman during a golden age for the club, overseeing manager Graham Taylor as he took the team from Fourth Division to the top division of the English Football League in just five years.
Taylor also led Watford to the 1984 FA Cup Final, which they lost to Everton 2–0.
Both Elton and Taylor - who passed away in January 2017 at the age of 72 - have stands named after them at Watford's stadium Vicarage Road.
Elton played two special hometown shows at Vicarage Road on his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour.
