E.T.'s face

In order to achieve a truly other-worldly look, Steven Spielberg tasked special effects designer Carlo Rambaldi with mixing-and-matching a handful of stars to create E.T.'s face.

He later revealed: "I remember saying to Carlo, here’s some pictures of Albert Einstein, Ernest Hemingway and Carl Sandburg. I love their eyes, can we make E.T.’s eyes as frivolous and also wizened and as sad as those three icons."
