No touching the suits

In order to achieve a look of radiant “energy” for scenes on the planet Krypton, costume designer Yvonne Blake made the suits out of a special type of glass that produced a glowing effect.

However, everyone was forced to wear cotton gloves while touching the costumes, or they would smudge easily.

She recalled: “Any time the material was touched by hand it would lose its reflective quality.”
