Nearly R-rated

Although ‘Indiana Jones’ can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages, it certainly has its fair share of dark moments!

‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ was slapped with an R-rating due to the graphic demise of the villainous Belloq (Paul Freeman) - although the scene was later softened so the film could have a PG rating.

However, the sequel 'Temple of Doom' contained plenty of darker elements and led to the introduction of the PG-13 rating.
