Dean Stockwell’s warning
When Dean Stockwell agreed to join ‘Quantum Leap’, producers were over the moon, and rightly so.
The actor had a colossal portfolio of movies and TV shows he had appeared in across four decades, including ‘Dune’, ‘Married for the Mob’ and ‘Beverly Hills Cop II’, so it came as a bit of a shock that Dean signed on to a relatively goofy show, particularly to Dennis Hopper.
In fact, Dennis warned the actor that agreeing to the role would be a shot in the foot, but it most definitely did not, considering Dean went on to to be nominated for several awards for his performance as Rear Admiral Albert 'Al' Calavicci.
Reflecting on the show, the actor said: “My idea going into 'Quantum Leap’ was to get stranded in it for five or six years. Why not?
“I have done something like 60 films. I don’t have anything to prove in that area, and I don’t care to prove anything in theater.”
