Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

The ‘Womanizer’ singer, 41, proposed to her now ex-husband, Kevin Federline, 45, during a 2004 flight from Ireland to New York City. Speaking to PEOPLE, Britney herself recalled how it went down.

She recalled: “All of a sudden I said, 'What if you want to get married?' And I kind of went from there to asking him if he would marry me."

As of Kevin, he told the same publication that “I was taken by surprise. I thought the guy was supposed to ask the girl".

He eventually said ‘yes’ and they tied the knot that same year. They divorced in 2007, but share teenage sons Sean and Jayden.
