The Broadway legend was accused of being against the transgender community when she claimed that the word "woman" was being eradicated in favour of gender neutral terminology.

She said: "They don't call us 'women' anymore; they call us 'birthing people' or 'menstruators', and even 'people with vaginas'! Don't let them erase you!"
