When preparing for the 2022 sequel to the 1986 action classic, Cruise underwent a three-month intensive flying boot camp in order to play United States Navy Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell.

His intense training was made up of a gruelling regime which included spending up to four hours a day in a cockpit experiencing extreme G-force which resulted in whiplash and extreme motion sickness.
