The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star could not have had any idea when he married 'Aquaman' actress Amber Heard in 2015 that their marriage would eventually become one of the messiest splits of all time.

The former couple - who divorced in 2017 - were embroiled in a six-week defamation trial over an op-ed in The Washington Post that Amber wrote in 2018 in which she suggested that she had been a victim of domestic violence at Depp's hands.

The 'Edward Scissorhands' actor ultimately won the case, during which every sordid detail of their toxic marriage was revealed and reported on.

Depp was awarded $10 million in damages after winning all three of his defamation claims while she was awarded $2 million after winning one of her three countersuit claims.
