Keke Palmer sparks concern with Emmy Awards absence
Keke Palmer had been scheduled to present the Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series award alongside Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández.
Keke Palmer has sparked concern after missing the Emmy Awards on Monday night (14.09.26), despite the fact she was meant to present one of the gongs.
The 33-year-old actress had been scheduled to present the Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series award alongside Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández.
However, Keke was noticeably absent when Marcello took to the stage to hand out the prize.
He made no mention of Keke’s absence, instead using the opportunity to speak directly to the nominees of the award.
Marcello said: “It’s an honour for me to be here. It’s my first time at the Emmys, and I get to present, so I just wanna take this opportunity to say hi to a few people I might not be able to say hi to later.
“I don’t know what parties I’ve been invited to and I don’t know what parties you have been invited to, so just very quickly I would like to say hello to Harrison Ford.”
As the camera panned to Harrison, Marcello continued: “Hello! You are a legend, man, and a real inspiration to me. And I would like to invite you to have dinner at my house. No pressure.”
He then added: “I wanna say hi to Zendaya! You’re a beast and you’re amazing, and I saw you and I wanted to play it cool and I’ve decided I can’t do that.
“So I would like to invite you and Spider-Man to have dinner at my house.”
Marcello also praised Oscar Isaac, nominated in the category for his show Beef, as he offered to “will cook you whatever you want” at Christmas, before handing out the award to Hiro Murai for Widow’s Bay.
Despite Marcello’s welcome improvisations, viewers noted that he had been scheduled to take to the stage alongside Keke.
One fan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote: “Where is Keke Palmer? They announced her and it was just the guy.”
As another added: “Am I the only one worried about Keke Palmer?? Where is she?”
Keke’s representatives have yet to explain the actress’ absence from the ceremony.
