Lizzo remained a virgin until she was in her 30s after promising herself she wouldn't have sex until she "won a Grammy".
The 37-year-old pop star has admitted she "lied" about her virginity "for a long time" because she found her lack of sexual experience "embarrassing" but she finally took the leap back in 2020.
Lizzo made the confession during an appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, saying: "I was a late bloomer. I lied about it for a long time. Can I just tell you the year? 2020. Isn't that crazy. I wasn't even thinking about it for me I just promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn't have sex until I won a Grammy."
When asked if she would have stuck to her promise if she hadn't won a Grammy award, Lizzo replied: "Who knows?"
Lizzo won three Grammys in 2020 - taking home Best Pop Solo Performance for Truth Hurts, Best Urban Contemporary Album for Cuz I Love You (Deluxe) and Best Traditional R B Performance for Jerome.
However, the singer insisted she didn't lose her virginity that night, saying: "It was not the night of the Grammys ..."
