Darren Day and Suzanne Shaw have announced they are grandparents.

The TV presenter, 57, and his Hear’Say singer ex, 44, reunited to welcome their son Corey’s first child into the world, and shared the news on social media.

They revealed on Instagram Corey, 21, and his girlfriend Erin had welcomed a baby boy named Colton on Thursday. (26.03.26)

Darren and Suzanne separated in 2005 after a turbulent relationship and appeared together in a series of pictures with the newborn.

The TV host accompanied his post of the snaps with a long poem, which opened with the lines: “Something beautiful, something true, My baby boy, Corey became a father, To a precious son, wrapped softly in blue.”

Darren and Suzanne first met while co-starring in the touring production of Summer Holiday in 2003, later becoming engaged before splitting shortly after Corey’s birth.

Darren reportedly left Suzanne and their seven-week-old son at the time, during which Suzanne experienced postnatal depression.

Despite their history, the pair have remained on good terms as co-parents.

Suzanne said on social media about the arrival of her grandchild: “Colton – Nanny loves you to infinity and back, you are perfect. I might not have reading glasses quite yet (like your grandad), but can’t wait to teach you handstands and cartwheels.”

Darren also posted about the birth, referencing their age difference. He said: “Grandad loves you so much… and is actually old enough to be a Grandparent, unlike Nanny! @suzi_shaw”.

Messages of support followed from friends and former colleagues.

Kym Marsh wrote online: “This is wonderful!!! Welcome to the grandparent club!!! You’re gonna love it.” Myleene Klass added: “Huge congrats x”, while Natasha Anderson said: “How beautiful!!! Huge congratulations to you all lovely.”

Suzanne and Darren had been together for around 18 months and were engaged before their split. Darren’s departure at the time was widely reported, with the actor said to have told Suzanne: “I don't do family.”

Reflecting on the breakdown of their relationship in a later interview on Vanessa Feltz’s Channel 5 show, Suzanne said Darren “pretty much went out to get a curry and didn’t come back”, adding her experience of postnatal depression at the time was “no surprise”.

Darren later married Stephanie Dooley, before the couple divorced in 2019.

He is now engaged to Sophie Ladds.

Suzanne went on to marry Jason King in 2009, with the pair separating in 2012.

More recently, Suzanne spoke about her own personal life, confirming her split from fiancé Sam Greenfield, with whom she shares her son Rafferty.

Suzanne said: “I've not been online for a little while because I've just been navigating some stuff in my life which is a breakup that I'm going through at the moment when I genuinely did not expect I'd be saying this out loud.”

She added: “It's been tough, it's been really tough and I wasn't actually even going to say anything online but I just thought like the nature of my account is all about mental health, my struggles with my mental health, quitting alcohol, changing my lifestyle, taking up running, all of the things that have just brought my stability.”

Suzanne continued: “And now things have just taken a different road, taken a different path. It's been tricky but my goodness thank god I have got the tools to navigate this.”
