EastEnders' Shona McGarty reveals if she will marry co-star Tony Discipline
Former EastEnders stars Shona McGarty and Tony Discipline confirmed their relationship in July after months of speculation.
EastEnders' Shona McGarty is ready to marry her co-star Tony Discipline, saying she will marry him "tomorrow".
The smitten couple, who played love interests Whitney Dean and Tyler Moon in the BBC soap, went public with their relationship in July after months of rumours, and the 35-year-old actress is on cloud nine.
She told the new issue of Closer magazine: "I’m really happy, I’ve honestly found my one. Tony is the ultimate gentleman, and he treats me like a queen.
"He just makes me laugh, he compliments me all the time, and he genuinely wants me to do well. I just adore him."
The pair remained in touch after Tony quit EastEnders in August 2013, and they tried to meet up a "few times", but their busy schedules got in the way.
But when Shona and the now London Fire Brigade firefighter eventually reunited over coffee, they immediately realised there was something special between them.
She said: "That was it. Straight away. We've always liked each other. I've always fancied him since I was young and we were on EastEnders together."
And Shona, who left EastEnders in May 2024 after 16 years, is ready to tie the knot with Tony.
She added: "I'd marry him tomorrow!
"In my book of life, I’ve got all these chapters which happened and are part of my story, but now I'm at the chapter where I found my one."
The singer previously dated Matt Lapinskas, 37, who played Tony's brother Anthony Moon in EastEnders.
She was engaged to musician David Bracken for a year until they called off their relationship not long before she appeared on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in 2025.
And the past romances have taught Shona some lessons.
She explained: "I've learned what my boundaries are and how I want to be treated.
"As they say, you've got to kiss a few frogs. In my case, it was a few toads!"
Tony recently hinted that a proposal could be coming after saying he "absolutely" wants to marry Shona.
Per The Sun, the former actor added: "That is the love of my life; she’s the love of my life. I don’t want anyone else. That’s my woman, that’s my soulmate.
"We were boyfriend and girlfriend in the show, so you build up some kind of rapport. Maybe there was some kind of underlying chemistry there, but in the last year or so it’s really gone up a notch."
