Oscars 2026: Kate Hudson only chose Oscars dress at the last minute
Kate Hudson only chose her stunning Armani Oscars gown hours before the ceremony.
Kate Hudson only chose her Oscars dress on Sunday (15.03.26) morning.
The Best Actress nominee - who was shortlisted for her performance in Song Sung Blue - knew she wanted to feel "comfortable" and turned to Armani to find her perfect gown for the night.
She told Vogue.com: “I don’t want to take any chances on the day that I want to feel just comfortable.
“It was just so important to me that I felt like I wasn’t going to have any dress anxiety.
“I wanted to work with people who I have a relationship with and I know would show up, and Armani just does that in such a beautiful way. Their craftsmanship is just incredible and they’re allowing me to have options.”
Kate ultimately opted for a bejewelled jade dress with sweetheart neckline and peplum from Armani Prive's spring 2026 collection that perfectly suited her criteria.
She explained: “I wanted to have a really pretty silhouette on the carpet, and I wanted to feel nice and held, and I want it to feel elegant, and I want to feel bright and colourful. I want to feel like I’m breathing in.”
The 46-year-old actress - who accessorised with a Garatti necklace featuring more than 41 carats of green diamonds worth a staggering $35 million - was keen for her outfit at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre to feel like the start of "something new", rather than bringing an end to her promotional campaign for Song Sung Blue.
She said: “I want it to feel like something new—like the beginning of creation, not the end of it.
"I think these moments can feel like the final part of this experience, and it is. But to me, energetically, I want it to feel like the beginning of a new chapter.”
Kate has previously spoken of her "deep appreciation" for fashion.
She told Vogue back in 2021: "I have such a deep appreciation for fashion. I love clothes and the experience of putting on something beautiful, seeing the love that artists—and I consider designers artists—put into everything they create.
"When I see something that's romantic or beautifully crafted, it's like I'm walking on a cloud. If I walk past a store and catch a glimpse of something special in the back, I have to go in [because] I get excited."
