Kristen Bell married her “polar opposite” in Dax Shepard.

The 44-year-old actress can relate to her alter ego Joanne and her relationship with Noah (Adam Brody) in new Netflix series ‘Nobody Wants This’ because she and Dax - who have two daughters, Lincoln, 11, and nine-year-old Delta, together - are such different people, but their relationship works for them.

She told Britain’s HELLO! Magazine: “Joanne craves spontaneity and Noah almost seems allergic to it, so they’re polar opposites in almost every way.

“Having a relationship in real life where I married my polar opposite, I can tell you it’s endlessly fun and stimulating and requires a lot of growth, which leads to a lot of self-esteem and a deeper partnership.”

Kristen was attracted to 'Nobody Wants This' because it is rare for a TV show to focus on “later-in-life” relationships.

She said: "Sometimes when I’m watching a romantic comedy and they’re 21, I’m thinking, ‘You’re not going to find your person right now, you’re 21.;

“This is a later-in-life stage, and I think we’ve also seen that happening culturally and societally.

“I have a ton of girlfriends who are my age an they’re like, ‘I’m still dating. What am I going to do with my life?”

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star had taken a break from her career to focus on her family and ‘Nobody Wants This’ came along at the right time for her.

She said: “I never really have a roadmap of what I want to do next, rather I’m told by my gut and this came across my desk at a time when I was keen to be creative again.

“I think I was also secretly craving a romantic comedy.

“I haven’t seen one that I’ve connected with in so long and this one was funny and thoughtful and edgy.

“There isn’t a better way to spend your time, entertainment-wise, than laughing and crying and rooting for love.”
