Martin Scorsese has claimed Seth Rogen "ruined" his planned Cleopatra film.

The 84-year-old filmmaker had planned to make a movie starring Angelina Jolie as the Egyptian queen, but the project fell apart in the wake of the Sony hack, which came as a response to the studio's controversial 2014 movie The Interview, in which a presenter and producer were asked to assassinate Kim Jong Un after landing an interview with the North Korean dictator.

Speaking to his daughter Francesca Scorsese on Tribeca's Crafty, Scorsese said: “Remember we were gonna do Cleopatra at one point, and then they made fun of [Kim Jong Un], and he got mad and he blew up everybody at Columbia.

“Seth Rogen, right? And then he got mad, and [it] ruined Cleopatra.

“We were gonna do it. We were ready on the script. Angelina Jolie - We were going. She was gonna be Cleopatra VII. It was gonna be really wild.”

Francesca admitted she is still "so mad about" the fate of the film.

Her dad quipped: “Well, tell Seth, because they ruined everything. Just because Kim Jong Un doesn’t have a sense of humour.”
