Cody Simpson can't 'walk or talk' right now

Cody Simpson is unable to walk or talk "for some time" after pushing himself too hard.
The 29-year-old pop star - who swapped music for competitive swimming in the last few years - cancelled promotional appearances for his comeback single Baby Blue last month after suffering a vocal haemorrhage and he's now revealed that not only is he still on vocal rest due to the damaged vocal cord, he's also nursing a knee injury.
Sharing a photo of himself on crutches, along with brief videos of him with a doctor and the moment he hurt his knee, he wrote on Instagram this week: "The universe is serving it to me this year!
"An update on where I’ve been: I’ve been on and off vocal rest for close to 3 months trying to heal a damaged vocal cord. We decided to operate to aid the recovery, then I discolated my knee rehearsing for a new music video and we had to push surgery back to let my knee settle.
"I can’t walk or talk for some time now, and no singing or dancing for months to come. I’ve been pushing my body and mind for years now non-stop and I’m taking time to reflect and understand this for what it is: forced rest."
As a result, Cody will be delaying his new album, as well as plans for live shows but is confident he'll be back soon.
He added: "The album and live shows have to wait, but I’ve got some work to share while I’m down for the count. You can’t hold me down! I’ll be back stronger [heart emoji].
"FYI, we still shot the music video..."
The La Da Dee hitmaker is looking for other ways to connect with fans and sent out a call to find people to attend a listening event in Los Angeles.
He wrote on his Instagram Story: “Since I can't sing and can't move. I wanted to find a creative way for some fans to be first to hear my next single.”
Cody previously explained he had injured his vocal cords after singing while harbouring a sinus infection.
He wrote on Instagram at the time: "Hey guys. I originally thought I could keep this private but it’s come time I share what I’ve been going through. Just over a month ago we discovered a serious hemorrhage on one of my vocal cords.
"It occurred due to my overzealousness in the studio singing through a sinus infection I didn’t know I had. Assumed it was just fatigue and kept showing up to the studio until one day I could no longer sing.
"I’ve now been on and off vocal rest for weeks, cancelling TV and radio performances for Baby Blue in the process. This has also affected my ability to complete the album and polish up the next singles.
"I’ve just been prescribed another 2 weeks of silence in hopes of avoiding a surgery which demands a much longer recovery process. I’m back in the studio now writing strictly as a lyricist on mute with my collaborators, and hearing/writing my vocal melodies on my guitar (which I will eventually replace with my voice when I’m able to). Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
"I’d like to bring you on the journey. I’ve been extremely up and down but am now reframing this as a realignment for the long-term good. In the meantime, should I start sharing some of what I’ve already finished?(sic)"
