Lukas Gage's 'very punchable face' has caused people to misread him
Lukas Gage thinks his natural expression has made people assume he is "mean" before they get to know him.
Lukas Gage wished he did not have a "very punchable face".
The White Lotus actor says his natural expression has led some people to read him as "mean" before they get to know him.
Lukas, 31, told E! News: "I have a very punchable face, and I think people can read me as being mean. I swear, it's just my face. I wish I could turn it off. I was just born this way."
The Euphoria star has learnt from his past mistakes and developed greater self-confidence over time.
Lukas acknowledged: "I'm misunderstood sometimes about some of the decisions that I made earlier on that were of poor taste, or maybe me acting out.
"They all came from a place of really needing validation. I needed to grow up and become a more secure person, and who I was five years ago is not who I am today.
"We can always change."
The Voicemails for Isabelle alum has learnt not to try and seek "constant validation, whether it be good or bad".
Lukas added: "I would search for both good things and bad things about me online. I think there is some merit to hearing both.
"You almost have to desensitise yourself to get to the point where I feel like I'm finally at where I'm not so self-obsessed about it, and so curious about what other people's opinions are of me."
The Smile 2 cast member noted that growth "comes with time and age".
Elsewhere in his interview with the outlet, Lukas said he found a sense of peace since he opened up about his sexuality, previously confirming being "90 percent gay, 10 percent straight" after years of speculation.
The Companion entertainer said: "It was like I could take a deep breath.
"At first, having a secret can be fun, and it can feel like you're mysterious. Then it starts to eat away at you, and you just can't keep up with it anymore.
"Just being upfront was the thing that allowed me to be more free, allowed my work to be better, and allowed me actually to work with the right people. It aligned me in the right way."
In April 2023, Lukas married 43-year-old celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, with their Las Vegas nuptials officiated by Kim Kardashian, 45, and broadcast on her reality show The Kardashians.
But they ended their relationship seven months later, with their divorce finalised in June 2024.
