Amanda Peet is 'doing great' following cancer diagnosis
After recently revealing she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, Amanda Peet says she is "doing great" now.
Amanda Peet is doing "great" following her treatment for breast cancer.
The Your Friends and Neighbors actress revealed in March she had been diagnosed with the disease last year but after having the tumour removed and undergoing radiotherapy, she is now feeling much better.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday (31.04.26), a fan asked Amanda how she was feeling now.
The 54-year-old star replied: “Well thank you Eric, I’m doing great."
Amanda also reflected on the best piece of advice she had received as a result of her diagnosis.
She said: “The best piece of advice, I would say, is ‘Enjoy it while we’re here.' "
Host Andy agreed and added: “That is something to live by every day.”
Amanda had shared her diagnosis in a candid essay for the New York Times newspaper, in which she discussed battling her own health issues while her parents were in hospice care.
In the essay, Amanda shared how she told her "two oldest friends" and her husband, David Benioff, about her breast cancer diagnosis, but initially held off on telling their kids, Frances, 18, Molly, 15, and Henry, 11, because there was "nothing definitive to say".
After the Whole Nine Yards actress' MRI scan in January, the radiologist found a "second mass in the same breast" and "ordered an MRI-guided biopsy, which is when a tumour sample is extracted while you’re inside the big white imaging doughnut".
Following the procedure, the doctor told Amanda that "it was fifty-fifty whether or not there was more cancer".
The Saving Silverman cast member breathed a sigh of relief two days later when they "found out that the second mass was benign, and that I would only need a lumpectomy and radiation, not a double mastectomy or chemo", and Amanda told her children about her health ordeal.
And Amanda recently told how she needed to "get [herself] together" before revealing her cancer diagnosis to Frances, Molly, and Henry but praised them for their response to the news.
She told E! News: "They've been great. I definitely had to get myself together before including them.
"The hard part was realising that nothing is certain and there was going to be no perfect time to tell them."
