Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk want fans to post "#bringbackfirefly" before this weekend's announcement.

The actors - who played Captain Mal Reynolds and Hoban 'Wash' Washburne in the cult classic space Western series and sequel film Serenity - are set for a life recording of their Once We Were Spacemen podcast on at AwesomeCon on Saturday (14.03.26), just one day before a special announcement which has fans hoping for a revival of the hit show.

The podcast's official account posted: "Just a couple more days...

"Comment #bringbackfirefly to be the first to know what this big announcement is all about #AwesomeCon2026"

Earlier in the week, a video was also posted showing Nathan - who has been visiting his former co-stars in a series of skits to get them on board - knocking on Alan's door.

In the clip, he said: "Hey buddy. So, I'm not gonna do this without you. So, are you in?"

Alan nodded and slapped him, insisting: "I slap, I'm just excited."

Earlier this month, Nathan shared individual clips featuring the core cast of Firefly, including Gina Torres (Zoë Washburne), Morena Baccarin (Inara Serra), Sean Maher (Simon Tam), Summer Glau (River Tam) and Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb).

In the videos on his Instagram, Nathan can be seen visiting the homes of his castmates and telling them: "It's time."

In one caption, he wrote: "Wait... time for what? What's it time for?"

In another, he added: "Wait. Doing what? What are we doing? What are we doing, you son of a b****?!"

Nathan noted that while some people have guessed he's planning a "convention, podcast, or cross-over", they've all been off the mark.

He teased: "You are wrong."

he visits Jewell Staite's home, and she says: "Wait, are we?"

Nathan replies: "Yes, we are..."

She quotes Firefly, adding "shiny", as her co-star says: "I was hoping you'd say that."

In the caption, he that "an announcement is coming on Sunday, March 15".

It's maintained a strong fanbase with people loving the adventures of the renegade crew of smugglers, and people have constantly called for a comeback.

While Nathan's posts suggest a reunion of some kind, it's unclear whether it could be a revival series, or perhaps a 25th anniversary reunion special.
