Kristin Cavallari "went on a couple of dates" with Jay Cutler in the year after their divorce.

The 37-year-old star was married to Jay between 2013 and 2022, and she's now admitted that they "really did everything" they could in an effort to salvage their romance.

Kristin said on the 'Dumb Blonde' podcast: "Unless you've gone through this, especially with a toxic marriage, it's like, it has this hold on you ... It's a f****** trauma bond. And until you can really break that, I would go back [to Jay] a couple times and be like, 'I know it's not right, but, like, why am I doing it?'"

Kristin also claimed that her troubled relationship with her dad had a negative influence on her marriage.

She shared: "The thing is, I was repeating a pattern with my dad. And because I hadn't done the work on my relationship with my dad - that's what you do, you know? I ended up marrying my dad.

"And so, it really forced me then to work through my s***, which is which is what I did."

Kristin suggested that she's now in a much better frame of mind.

The 'Very Cavallari' star said: "There are things from my marriage that I will never know, and I've just sort of had to let that go. I'm over it now, and I can - that's why I can probably talk about it so freely."

Kristin and Jay - who have Camden, 12, Jaxon, ten, and Saylor, eight, together - announced their split via a joint statement back in 2020.

They said at the time: "With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family. (sic)"
