‘Gilmore Girls’ actor Scott Cohen and his wife thought they were “dead” when they were caught in a high-speed car chase.

The actor, 62, and his partner Anastasia Traina were on their way home in Brooklyn, New York, on 29 June when they were struck in a head-on collision by the suspect in the police chase.

Scott has now told Page Six about the incident: “We thought we were dead. My wife’s arm is all messed up.

“I have a broken sternum, which is supposed to be never-healing. It’s like called a non-union break, and it’s never going to heal.”

Police pulled over a male driver for a routine traffic stop in Astoria, Queens, before the chase that left Scott and his wife injured.

The suspect suddenly took off with cops pursuing him and sped into Greenpoint, Brooklyn, which is where he collided with Scott’s car – with the suspect’s vehicle bursting into flames before he ran off and exchanged gunfire with the police.

It is still unclear if the fugitive was ever caught, and after the accident Scott posted photos of himself in hospital and his mangled car.

He said in a caption about the incident it woke him up to the “fragility of us” and “how life can change in an instant”.

Scott added online in a post about his and his wife’s recovery: “With broken bones, bruised bodies, lots of drugs, and the impact of a random act of aggression that hit us we venture on.

“I’m very p***** my existence right now is about healing but at the same time truly grateful @afunnybunnypicture and I are both here to experience the love and incredible generosity of friends and family.”

Scott, who played lead character Lorelai Gilmore’s love interest Max Medina on ‘Gilmore Girls’ from 2000 to 2003, is currently starring in ‘The Penguin’ spin-off show from 2022’s ‘The Batman’ film, which is streaming on Max and stars Colin Farrell, 48, as villain Oz Cobb – aka The Penguin – as he battles to seize control of Gotham’s organised crime.
