Will Best hopes to 'avenge' Big Brother co-host Strictly Come Dancing injury
Strictly Come Dancing Will Best is desperate to win the Glitterball Trophy and "avenge" the injury that prevented his Big Brother co-host AJ Odudu from taking part in the final of the 2021 series of the BBC show.
Will Best is hoping to "avenge" his Big Brother co-host AJ Odudu's Strictly Come Dancing injury.
The 41-year-old presenter is currently competing on the BBC dancing competition and explained that he is desperate to lift the Glitterball Trophy for AJ's sake – after she reached the final of the 2021 series before withdrawing due to an ankle injury.
Will told OK! magazine: "I'm doing it for her. I'm trying to avenge her for her unfortunate injury.
"AJ came to the first live show and just before we went out one of the production team came running in with a card – she'd written me a lovely good luck message. It's nice knowing I've got friends who've been through the process and are now in my corner."
Will explained that the gruelling training for the show has left his feet in agony.
He said: "It feels like I've developed claws. And I've got a dodgy old knee. I've been having physio on that.
"We can't get away from the fact I'm a middle-aged man and I forget that. Then I'm reminded of it when I try to do a slut drop. So painkillers and Deep Heat are my best friends at the moment."
As well as his Strictly and Big Brother commitments, Will recently welcomed his first child, a boy called Sonny, with his fiancée Tobi Rose and is embracing the "magical" experience of being a father.
He said: "Life as a dad is great. He's a chill in the day, party at night boy. He comes alive around the 1am mark. Most of the time, he's just snoozing on my chest and it's the most surreal, beautiful thing. It's magical."
Best explained that he prefers being kept busy by parenting and TV work as he "overthinks" things if he has too much time on his hands.
The Hits Radio presenter said: "If I'm not really busy, I just overthink things. I do feel like the busier I am, the happier I am.
"If all I was doing work-wise was Strictly, I think I'd struggle. I'd get so in my head all the time. It's important to be able to switch off, go home and think about something else, then come back refreshed."
