Vicky Pattison explains why she sought ADHD diagnosis
Vicky Pattison has discussed her desire to have a child with her husband Ercan Ramadan.
Vicky Pattison sought an ADHD diagnosis before embarking on her motherhood journey.
The 38-year-old star was diagnosed with the neurological condition earlier this year, and she's now explained how the diagnosis came about.
The brunette beauty told Women's Health magazine: "It’s not important for me to have the label – I know myself.
"But I’m aware there’s been a lot of studies and personal experiences being shared about women rawdogging things such as autism and ADHD until they’re in their forties, and then they unravel. I’m in my late thirties and about to embark on a journey to motherhood. I fear those will both be catalysts for me not being able to manage my ADHD any more in an unmedicated way."
Vicky is keen to have a child with Ercan Ramadan, her husband, and she's been reflecting on her decision to freeze her eggs.
The TV star is making a documentary, titled Vicky Pattison: Maybe, Baby?, about her fertility journey, and she's hopeful of having a child in the near future.
She shared: "For a couple of years, there was this niggling part of me that was like, 'Will you wake up one day and feel like you missed out if you don’t have a baby?'
"I watched all my friends have kids – the sleepless nights, the colic, the not having time to shower. But I also saw the happiness and the joy and the love. I felt transient. I felt lost. I felt confused."
Vicky has found making the documentary to be an informative experience.
She said: "What I realised slowly is that it’s a huge sacrifice and a huge commitment. But it’s also one that’s worth doing if you think you want to be a mum.
"That [feeling] just grew, and it got to the point where I was making the show and some days I’d wake up crying, because I didn’t have a baby. That’s how I knew this is the route I want to take."
