Coronation Street's Lucy-Jo Hudson flogs unwanted items to make money for wedding
Coronation Street alum Lucy-Jo Hudson is set to tie the knot with Lewis Devine, having announced her engagement in April after eight years together.
Coronation Street's Lucy-Jo Hudson made £305 for her wedding fund after flogging unwanted items at a car boot sale.
The 43-year-old actress, who played Katy Harris in the ITV soap from 2002 until 2005, was delighted with her success at the October 11 event and is keen to find more ways to raise money for her nuptials, having announced her engagement to Lewis Devine in April after eight years together.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (14.10.26), Lucy shared shots of herself at the car boot sale, smiling in front of all the unwanted items alongside Lewis, their six-year-old son Carter, and their neighbour, Daphne, plus a photo of the cash she had made, spread out across the floor at home.
The entertainer captioned the post: "Welcome to Wedding Wednesday.
"Last Sunday I went back to my childhood and did a car boot sale, and made £305. That’s now going towards our wedding fund…
"Ahhh it was actually so much fun… I sold so many random things, from old shoes, to baskets, to lamps, to bags, to plant pots…. that have literally just been sat in our garage, cluttering up space, for far too long.
"I nearly didn’t make it, as I set my alarm for 4.30am and it never went off, and I woke up at 6.30am panicking that I’d missed my slot, but I flew in my car got there for 6.45am and managed to get myself set up… in the dark.
"Before I’d even got everything unpacked, I had people in my boot wanting to buy things, then my boys and our lovely neighbour Daphne turned up about 7.30am, god love them, to help me.
"Daphne even brought coffee and biscuits for us all, which I was buzzing about because I didn’t have time to make my own before I left that morning, being in such a panic.
"We stayed until 1pm, sold pretty much everything and came home with £305!! Absolutely buzzing.
"Wedding planning is exciting, but let’s be honest it can get expensive VERY quickly. So I’m all for finding little ways to save money (sic)."
Lucy plans to attend another car boot sale to sell her old clothes, but joked she will not let Lewis accompany her again.
The Doctors alum explained: "He kept going off and buying [poo emoji] while I was trying to sell it. He is not coming again!"
In April, Lucy admitted to breaking down in tears as she had "no idea" Lewis planned to pop the question "for months".
On Instagram, she shared shots of herself flashing her sparkly diamond ring in a mirror selfie, as well as the smitten couple beaming with happiness after the proposal during a romantic getaway to the breathtaking Lake District.
Lucy's lengthy caption read: "I’m still on cloud 9. 8 years, our blended family, and a moment I never saw coming. Lew has had this planned for months... and I had no idea….
"He took me back to the Lakes, where some of our first memories began. We spent the day reminiscing, just us, walking through the most beautiful quiet gardens with no one else around.
"We talked about our kids, our future, how far we’ve come and then Lew just held me tight, telling me about how much he loves our kids, and how he can’t imagine doing life without me... and then suddenly, he was on one knee."
Lucy said "YES before he’d even finished asking me".
She continued: "No big audience, no big show, just us, and a quiet, perfect moment that meant everything. After all our ups and downs, we’ve come out stronger, and now we get forever.
"I’m still on cloud 9 - and I can’t stop looking at my stunning ring, and the man who gave it to me.
"Thank you for choosing us, always. I love you baby @lewisdevineofficial. And I can’t wait to marry you."
Lucy and Lewis met while working on the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs pantomime together in 2018.
That year, she and Alan Halsall, 44, who plays Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street, split after nine years of marriage.
The former couple have a 13-year-old daughter named Sienna-Rae.
