Jaime Winstone has been following her dad's advice amid her Strictly Come Dancing journey.

The 41-year-old actress is the daughter of Hollywood star Ray Winstone, and Jaime admits that she's been taking advice from the actor.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Jaime - who has been partnered with Carlos Gu on the BBC show - explained: "Thankfully, I’ve got the support around me that I need.

"I had a great phone call with him after the show on Saturday, from set — Dad is loving it. He’s suddenly a fifth judge.

"He just said, ‘Pick yourself up, kid, and crack on’, and that’s what I’ve got to do.

"He’s loving Carlos and he’s super-proud of me. He knows it’s a really hard job we’re doing and I’m putting in the effort. And my mum was screaming in the background, crying, ‘You’re amazing!’"

Jaime survived the dreaded dance-off last weekend, and she admits that it's been an emotionally challenging week.

The actress shared: "It is a blow when you’ve worked so hard. It’s been an emotional weekend and a hard couple of days.

"There’s been quite a lot of tears. It’s been very emotional because you’re just working so hard."

Despite this, Jaime is approaching the coming weekend with renewed optimism.

She said: "It’s not how you fall, it’s how you get up.

"I’m still here and fighting fit. I’m raring to go and I’m actually glad we got to do a dance-off because I got to do the routine again and I got to do it correctly. That’s the silver lining here."

Jaime is determined to excel on Strictly for the sake of her grandma, who is a long-time Strictly fan.

She explained: "For me, Blackpool would be completely incredible. I spent a lot of time there when I was a child with my nan, who’s coming to the show this week.

"She’s 93 and a huge fan of Strictly. I would love, love, love to make it to Blackpool.

"I spent a lot of time in caravan parks there when I was a kid. So to dance there with a few of my drag queen friends in the audience would be the ultimate experience."
