Tina O'Brien has signed a new Coronation Street contract.

The 42-year-old actress has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep her on ITV soap as Sarah Platt for another year following a challenging 2025 that saw her separate from husband Adam Crofts and lose her father Steven.

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Tina had a very difficult 2025 so bosses wanted to reassure her that there was nothing to worry about where her job was concerned.

"She put pen to paper just before the Christmas break. Obviously there have been a lot of changes over the last few months and the last thing they wanted was for her to worry about her role in Corrie.

"She is very much adored on set and her character has got some big things coming up this year."

Tina - who has played the role of Sarah Platt since 1999 - revealed in an Instagram post in November that her dad had passed away.

She captioned an emotional post: "My dad died recently. I haven't quite known how to put it into words. My heart is very heavy but I'm grateful he is no longer suffering. Thank you to everyone who's held me steady through this difficult time."

Meanwhile, Tina revealed last month that Sarah will have a small part in the historic Corriedale crossover between Coronation Street and fellow ITV soap Emmerdale on Monday (05.01.26) as she posted photos from the show's launch on social media.

She wrote: "Had the best day yesterday with the cast of @coronationstreet and @emmerdale. Both coming together for this amazing crossover. Such a fantastic piece of TV. I still can’t believe I made it into the episode (even though I’m literally on screen for a second) which means I can sit back and enjoy watching everyone else smash it."

O'Brien added: "Huge love to the wonderful @director_duncan and the brilliant press and post production teams behind the scenes. Can’t wait for you all to see it."
