Amol Rajan exits The Celebrity Traitors
Amol Rajan has become the first celebrity to leave the new series of The Celebrity Traitors.
Amol Rajan has been "murdered" on The Celebrity Traitors.
The 43-year-old broadcaster has exited the BBC show after losing a head-to-head battle with comedy star James Acaster to join the other traitors, Richard E Grant and Maya Jama.
Following his exit, Amol said: "I’m sort of grieving what might have been.
"In time, I know that I’ll come to look on this as honestly one of the greatest privileges of my life.
"In fact, I already do. What an amazing thing to do, and it was bigger, it was bolder, it was braver, it was brighter than it looks on TV. And to have been sort of in it when it’s a show and a game I love so much is just a blessing, really."
Amol loved his time on the show, despite his premature exit.
He said: "Even if you’re someone who is on TV, there is still something amazing about actually being in the place that you see on TV. The kind of theatrical energy and character of that Round Table itself..."
Amol also observed that Richard and Maya being traitors "makes sense in hindsight".
He added: "I think the Faithful have got a real challenge now with Acaster in the mix. He is going to be brilliant."
Amol previously admitted to being a huge fan of the TV show and host Claudia Winkleman.
The broadcaster explained that he was "fully living the dream" by appearing on the programme.
He told the BBC: "I love this show! I'm obsessed with the high gothic camp horror. I'm definitely in love with Claudia. I love the jeopardy. I love the drama. I think it is the best entertainment format of all time.
"I love the show, but I love the game even more. I have been obsessed for 25 years with games of psychological play, mystery and deduction so I loved The Traitors from the start, then it turned out there was a Celebrity Traitors, and it got even better. And now I'm in it, so I'm fully living the dream."
