Alison Hammond raves over Nigella Lawson's bag of treats in Bake Off tent
The Great British Bake Off continues this evening (29.09.26), and Alison Hammond was impressed with new judge Nigella Lawson's hospitality during filming.
Alison Hammond has "never tasted anything like" Nigella Lawson's Great British Bake Off snacks.
The 66-year-old star has joined the Channel 4 baking competition as a judge alongside Paul Hollywood, and the 51-year-old host has opened up about having her in the iconic tent.
She told the UK's Closer magazine: "During filming, Nigella brought this bag full of cheese, butters, crackers and wines.
"I've never tasted anything like it. Obviously, it's Nigella - of course she was going to bring the most quality cheese!"
While Nigella has clearly kept everyone well fed, a former Bake Off contestant has joked she needs to not get carried away with the contestants' creations.
Speaking before the launch, Howard Middleton - who appeared on the show in 2013 - was asked what he thinks she will find hardest about being a judge.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz on behalf of Smooth Spins Casino: "I think pacing herself. She needs to probably realise that there's quite a lot to get through."
He quipped: "So, I think if she finds something that is delicious, I get the feeling she'd want an extra piece.
"And actually, you think there's a lot of cake to go through; just slow down a bit."
Bake Off returned for a new series last week with a fresh batch of 12 bakers hoping to impress judges Paul and Nigella.
Among the colourful personalities is marketing graduate Clara, a marketing graduate who is devoted to her pet pygmy hedgehog, while National Health Service (NHS) worker Connie has earned the nickname "the Cake Lady”. Danni, meanwhile, combines her passion for video games with baking.
Gabe, dubbed the "Daddy of Birmingham drag", has dreamed of appearing on The Great British Bake Off since he discovered the show aged 13, while Gary only found an enthusiasm for baking later in life.
For charity worker Molly, she keeps her grandmother's influence alive through her cakes. Student Moyin first picked up baking at the age of five, while law graduate Mo was even younger when he started, beginning at the age of three.
Elsewhere, advertising executive Nikki turns to baking as a form of therapy and Shannon brings a love of food and the outdoors to the famous white tent, while Tom describes himself as a "northern diva".
Doctor Yannis is hoping to use his time on The Great British Bake Off to challenge the idea that Bangladeshi men have no place in the kitchen.
During the first episode, Yannis was ill and couldn't compete during the showstopper challenge, and so the judges decided not to eliminate anyone until week two.
