Tom Hardy’s MobLand future revealed after ‘behind-the-scenes tensions’
Paramount+ has confirmed the British star will reprise his role as fixer Harry Da Souza as the crime drama secures a third season.
Tom Hardy is officially returning for a third season of MobLand.
Ending months of uncertainty over whether the star would continue as the crime drama’s formidable fixer Harry Da Souza, Paramount+ confirmed on Thursday (03.09.26) the hit series has been renewed for season three, with Tom, 48, returning alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.
The announcement comes before season two has even premiered, with the 10-episode run launching globally on September 18 and new instalments arriving weekly until November 20.
The confirmation follows a turbulent period behind the scenes after reports earlier this year claimed Tom would not return following tensions involving screenwriter and executive producer Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser.
Variety reported in May Tom was expected to leave after completing work on the second season, amid alleged on-set issues involving the actor and members of the production team.
However, the publication subsequently reported Tom and the producers met in London and resolved their differences, clearing the way for him to return.
Guy Ritchie, who is an executive producer on the drama and directed its first two episodes, was also said to have been involved in efforts surrounding Tom’s return.
Paramount+ has now removed any lingering doubt about the actor’s future, announcing Tom, Pierce and Helen are all set to return for season three and promising more violent chaos.
Tom plays Harry, the street-smart fixer employed by the powerful Harrigan crime family, headed by Pierce’s Conrad Harrigan and Helen’s Maeve Harrigan.
Season two will find the Harrigans attempting to maintain a united front as rivals threaten their already fractured criminal empire.
Paramount+ said of the new episodes: “Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer’, must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify.”
The role has given Tom another major crime character following a career filled with some of film and television’s most memorable tough men.
He played Alfie Solomons opposite Cillian Murphy in the BBC gangster drama Peaky Blinders, while his movie credits include playing masked villain Bane in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, Max Rockatansky in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road and Eddie Brock and his alien alter ego in the Venom films.
Tom also starred in Inception, Dunkirk, The Revenant and the television drama Taboo.
Away from acting, Tom has recently made headlines for another side of his career after releasing a rap album under his long-standing musical alias Frankie Pulitzer.
Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer, his collaboration with hip-hop supergroup Czarface, was released in August and features appearances from artists including Busta Rhymes and Method Man.
The 15-track record contains Tom performing part of Shakespeare’s Richard III using the distinctive voice associated with his Dark Knight Rises character Bane.
His immediate television focus, however, remains MobLand.
Season two again features Pierce and Helen as Conrad and Maeve, with the new episodes promising an escalating struggle for control as violence and divisions threaten the Harrigans from both inside and outside the family.
The first season of MobLand is currently available on Paramount+, while season two begins streaming globally on September 18.
