Channel 4 'axes' Joe Swash's show Batch from Scratch: Cooking For Less
Channel 4 has axed Batch from Scratch: Cooking For Less, according to reports.
Channel 4 has reportedly axed Joe Swash's show Batch from Scratch: Cooking For Less.
The programme, which he co-fronted with cooking expert Suzanne Mulholland, premiered in February 2025 and saw an average of 1.1 million viewers tune in (0-28 days) to learn how to buy food without breaking the bank, and how to serve up healthier meals.
It was meant to cement the 44-year-old actor as a family favourite like his 36-year-old wife, ex-Loose Women panellist Stacey Solomon, but instead, it has left him to rethink his next career move.
A source told The Sun: "The move from EastEnders actor to cheeky-chappy presenter to family chef didn’t happen as seamlessly as bosses had hoped.
"The chemistry between him and Suzanne on screen was non-existent, and he just isn’t an authority on food.
"It’s tough as everything his wife Stacey touches turns to gold, and Joe is constantly playing catch-up.
"He is now trying to reimagine what his career will look like."
In July 2025, Channel 4 encouraged families to sign up for the second series of Batch from Scratch: Cooking For Less, which was "currently in pre-production" and looked to "transmit next year".
In a statement, Joe and Suzanne - nicknamed The Batch Lady - said: "We’re both excited to keep spreading the word about the power of batch cooking and look forward to teaming up again to transform the lives of families around the UK."
The show sees the pair teach the families taking part the importance of batch cooking and freezing multiple meals so they can cut preparation time.
They also get them to stick to a budget and try eating healthier meals.
In 2024, Joe started posting videos on his Instagram page about how he is batch cooking at his family's Essex home, Pickle Cottage.
He has son Rex, seven, daughter Rose, five, and Belle, three, with Stacey, and 19-year-old son Harry with his ex-partner, Emma Sophocleous, while Stacey has sons Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 14, from previous relationships.
Taking to Instagram, Joe posted a video of himself making cottage pie, with the caption: "I’m back in the kitchen!!
"Going to start posting videos about how I batch cook lots of meals for me, Stacey and the kids. Great for saving time and making tasty food that’s easy to keep in the freezer.
"First up ..... Cottage Pie!! Comment what you would make with the leftover mince?? (sic)"
