Rio and Kate Ferdinand to star in ITV spin-off
Rio and Kate Ferdinand has signed up for I’m A Celebrity: Wild Frontier.
Rio and Kate Ferdinand have signed up for the I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! spin-off show.
The loved-up duo - who tied the knot in 2019 - have become the first married couple to sign up for ITV’s new spin-off show, I’m A Celebrity: Wild Frontier.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Bosses are overjoyed to have landed the Ferdinands. It’s a real coup for the show.
"They have brilliant chemistry and are great fun. It will be the first time viewers have really seen Rio away from football chat, too.
"ITV are still in talks with some other brilliant names and this show promises to be absolutely spectacular — and a real social media talker."
ITV has already signed up the likes of Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy for the spin-off show, which will air next year. However, Rio and Kate's offer is likely to dwarf their £100,000 deals.
The celebrities will face trials and navigate the unforgiving terrain of Canada on the spin-off show.
Meanwhile, Kate - who has Cree, five, and Shae, two, with Rio - previously discussed her relationship with her step children.
Rio also has Lorenz, 19, Tate, 17, and Tia, 14, with his late wife Rebecca Ellison, and Kate admitted that being a step-mum can be a challenging experience.
The TV star - who rose to fame on the reality show The Only Way is Essex - said on the Blended podcast: "It's hard when you've got young kids because they take up a lot of your time, so you've got to make sure you've got that time [for the older ones].
"Kids go through phases. It's okay to have one or two weeks where you're at each other, you're butting heads a bit.
"Like me and Tia, she won't mind me saying, but we have these moments where we just butt heads for three or four days and we both don't know what's going on.
"Then it's like 'We're alright now aren't we' and we're fine'. But it's just like emotions, different times of the month. There's so much going on."
