Maya Jama makes ‘Solero swipe’ after her ex Ruben Dias’ ‘feelings on silent’ post
The Love Island presenter appeared to make her feelings clear on social media after former partner Ruben Dias shared a cryptic post following their split, as both continue enjoying their summers after ending their relationship in April.
Maya Jama appears to have aimed a pointed swipe at former partner Ruben Dias.
The Love Island presenter, 31, and Portugal international Ruben, 29, ended their 18-month relationship in April, and now Maya has shared a playful Instagram post just a day after the Manchester City defender suggested his “feelings are on silent” following the end of their relationship.
Maya and Ruben’s split came before the TV host travelled to Scotland to film Celebrity Traitors and ahead of another summer fronting ITV’s Love Island, the reality dating series that has cemented her status as one of British television’s biggest presenters.
The latest series concluded this week, with Maya once again hosting the live final after weeks of filming.
A day after Ruben shared a social media post captioned: “Feelings on silent”, Maya has appeared to respond with a light-hearted collaboration with ice cream brand Solero.
She wrote: “Some people catch feelings, I catch Soleros.”
Ruben has thrown himself into football since the couple’s separation, joining Portugal for the World Cup in the United States before the national side exited the tournament in the last 16.
The defender has since been enjoying a break in Ibiza before returning for pre-season training.
Meanwhile, Maya has been making the most of her first summer since filming wrapped on Love Island, sharing photographs from a holiday on Instagram.
The presenter posted snaps of herself wearing a purple bikini top and striped mini shorts while sitting on her security guard’s shoulders at a beach club.
Later, after spending the day enjoying cocktails, Maya returned to her villa and jumped fully clothed into the swimming pool.
Earlier this month, Maya was seen enjoying what appeared to be a flirty evening with chef James Freeman.
The pair were photographed outside James’ restaurant, Acre, in Notting Hill after Maya had spent the afternoon there with friends.
They embraced during their conversation before James held Maya’s hands.
An onlooker told the Daily Mail: “Maya and James appeared to strike up a close bond long after service had finished. They were chatting, drinking and smoking before hugging.”
Maya and Ruben called time on their relationship in April, with Maya later addressing the split publicly for the first time in response to a clip shared by the Cocktails and Takeaways podcast.
She wrote: “Truth is even when I tried to keep my relationships private we get photographed anyway, I’m an all or nothing girl. I don’t casually date, so yes I will love loudly or not at all and if it ends it ends, I decided a long time ago not to base personal life decisions on public opinions.”
Following the split, Ruben responded to allegations he had sent late-night Instagram follow requests to influencers while he was still in a relationship with Maya, insisting he had not been unfaithful.
He wrote: “I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I’ve cheated on my girlfriend because he’s seen it repeatedly on the news, that’s where I draw the line on what’s acceptable and what’s not.
“Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard.
“A lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth and for that reason I tell you that I didn’t cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to. I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world.
“The reasons why we broke up are private and belong to us and we’ve both dealt with it in a very mature way. I’ve always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only.
“But I also believe it’s wrong to lie to people and to portray an opposite image of someone just for clickbait. Respect me, respect Maya, and understand that not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end.”
