Mollie Gallagher 'really sad' after filming Coronation Street exit
Departing Corrie star Mollie Gallagher has opened up on her cobbles exit, and the possibility of a return.
Mollie Gallagher was "really sad" leaving Coronation Street.
The 28-year-old actress has left the cobbles after more than six years as Nina Lucas, but she admitted started rehearsals for her next role on stage in the UK and Ireland tour of Silence of the Lambs just three days after filming her final scenes has helped.
She told ITV show This Morning: "I don't like change, I struggle with change. It was really sad. [It was] three days before I started rehearsals, and in a way it was helpful because it was so quick."
Her final scenes on Corrie will air at the end of August, but it is not currently known what her exit storyline will be.
Being able to focus on her new role as Clarice Starling, who was played by Jodie Foster in the original 1991 horror classic, has helped Mollie "compartmentalise" after her soap exit.
Meanwhile, the soap star hinted the door is being left open for Nina to return in the future.
She teased: "I believed it's not the end of Nina's story. I love Corrie, and I really hope it's not the end. I don't think it is."
Last month, Corrie bosses voiced their support for Mollie's decision to step back and take on such a major opportunity.
A show spokesperson confirmed: "Mollie has created a unique and well loved character in Nina over the past six and a half years and everyone will be sorry to see her go.
"It is fantastic for Mollie that she has been given this incredible opportunity to play such an iconic role and we wish her all the best for the theatre tour."
According to RadioTimes, an impromptu, surprise leaving party was held at the Coronation Street studios in Manchester last week in Mollie's honour.
Mollie will be joined in Silence of the Lambs by former EastEnders star John Partridge as serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter, ex-Corrie and Emmerdale actor Oliver Farnworth, and Skins' Sam Jackson.
The actress joined Coronation Street in 2019 as Roy Cropper's niece and a young carer to her father.
Her most memorable storyline aired in 2021 when goth Nina and her boyfriend Seb Franklin were brutally attacked in a shocking incident that led to her partner's death.
The powerful storyline helped Mollie secure the National Television Award for Serial Drama Performance.
