Filming starts on Here We Go series 4 as Katherine Parkinson returns
Rivals star Katherine Parkinson has been back on set filming the new series of Here We Go.
Alison Steadman, Katherine Parkinson and more have started filming the fourth series of Here We Go.
The hit BBC sitcom is returning for another run with six 30-minute episodes as creator and star Tom Basden returns alongside the rest of the ensemble cast.
He said: "Working with such an incredible comedy cast is a pleasure and a privilege so I’m thrilled to be bringing Here We Go back to the BBC for a fourth time.
"We’ve only just started shooting but it’s already shaping up to be the best series yet!”
The Jessop family are back, with Tom joined by Ghosts actor Jim Howick, Rivals star Katherine Parkinson, and Gavin and Stacey legend Alison Steadman.
Also returning are Freya Parks, Jude Morgan-Collie, Tori Allen-Martin, Mica Ricketts, Ed Kear and Jon Furlong.
The BBC teased: "The fourth series rejoices in the chaos of the Jessop family as they encounter love, loss, jealousy, a graduation, a birthday party, a surprise snail allergy and an eventful 'fun run.'"
In the new series, Rachel (Parkinson) graduates and takes her "first, faltering steps, in political protest", while Paul (Howick) is struggling as an undervalued policeman as he "turns his hand to some messy painting and decorating".
The BBC continued: "Robin (Basden) continues his entrepreneurial campaign planning to impress Dragons’ Den while also buying a property he knows very little about.
"Cherry (Allen-Martin) is trying her best to juggle raising baby Atlas while practicing her newfound Make-Up Artist skills.
"Amy (Parks) is looking for a fresh start, a job and some kind of escape from the rest of her family while Sue (Steadman) is having trouble sleeping but manages to find time to make a lethal home-brew.
"Sam (Jude Morgan-Collie) is there to capture all the mess and the various disasters in close-up."
The BBC has promised further information "in due course".
All previous episode of Here We Go are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
The sitcom originally began as a pilot called Pandemonium, which aired amid the coronavirus pandemic in December 2020.
A full series then aired in 2022, and Tom admitted he always had Katherine in mind for the role of matriarch Rachel Jessop.
Around the first series, he said: "When I wrote the pilot I did have Katherine in mind, and with Jim and Alison, as soon as I saw them reading it I absolutely couldn't imagine anyone else doing it, they were just so perfect for those roles.
"With Cherry, Tori’s audition was so brilliant and funny that I was really excited to write more dialogue for her and suddenly had a much better handle on the character.
"Having made the pilot I could pretty much write for the for the actors and for their voices when putting the series together, which is really helpful. Within the series, there are certain roles that I wrote with specific people in mind, such as Ray for Tim Key or Frank for Mark Williams."
