Alison Steadman claims Sir Tom Jones felt "a bit horny" after they shot a passionate kissing scene for King of the Teds.

The 86-year-old legendary singer made his acting debut in the 2012 Sky Arts drama, in which his ex-bottle factory alter ego Ron and wife Tina's (Alison's) life turns upside down as their old pal Nina (Brenda Blethyn) visits for the first time in 40 years.

In the new issue of Woman magazine, Alison, 79, recalled: "I did a television film, and Tom was my husband. We had this quite passionate kiss. We did the scene, and then we set it up again and did it again.

"Then Tom jumps off the bed, and he goes, 'Well, I don't know about you, Alison, but I'm feeling a bit horny!'"

The actress stressed that the Sex Bomb hitmaker "never behaved in any way in an inappropriate fashion".

Alison added: "He's not like that."

The entertainer relished working with Tom.

She said: "He is the lovliest man. He was a delight to be with and a delight to work with."

Alison is no stranger to acting out racy sequences - with a sex scene in the 1986 BBC serial drama, The Singing Detective, being most memorable.

In 2023, she told The Guardian: "I most remember the sex scene in the woods.

"The night it was due to go out, I went to buy a Sunday newspaper from my local shop, and the headline read, 'BBC braces itself for biggest sex shock ever.' This was my scene!

"Mary Whitehouse went berserk, and every journalist was trying to get hold of me. Again, I was most worried about my parents, but they coped very well. It’s quite tame by today’s standards.

"I can’t remember much about the filming other than we were in the New Forest, so it was quite prickly!"

Alison's illustrious career spans almost 60 years, and she has no plans to quit any time soon.

During a December 2025 episode of ITV's Good Morning Britain, the Gavin and Stacey legend told anchors Richard Madeley, 70, and 55-year-old Susanna Reid: "I don't want to retire. I mean, I'm doing less.

"But the idea of just being at home, having a cup of coffee, it's fine, but I want to be busy. I love being with other actors, and we have a laugh together, and it's just good to get up in the morning and get out."
