Vanessa Feltz is planning to launch her own YouTube channel after her Channel 5 talk show was brutally axed.

The 64-year-old TV legend was left "shocked to the core" after being told her Vanessa programme wouldn't be renewed after a year on air, but she is now setting her sights on a new career move.

A TV insider told The Sun: "Vanessa was devastated by the news her Channel 5 show is coming off air.

"She lives and breathes conversation and debate - and she has no intention of letting a schedule change stop that.

"She is in the early stages of planning her own show that could launch later in the year.

"It’s an exciting new chapter for Vanessa who has been confiding in her famous friends and fellow TV stars about her plans."

Vanessa shot to fame while presenting ITV daytime television chat show Vanessa in the 1990s.

But she is now hoping to follow in the footsteps of Piers Morgan by having a successful YouTube channel, after the former Good Morning Britain host's Piers Morgan Uncensored attracted 4.4 million subscribers.

The insider added: "Vanessa has seen the success of broadcasters like Piers Morgan on YouTube and is keen to replicate that."

Earlier this month, Vanessa spoke out about her show being axed by Channel 5 for the first time, admitting she was left stunned by the decision.

She said on her LBC show: "It was a bit of a shock.

"It was meant to be a delightful year’s contract, the show was going really well...

"I was shocked to the core and very upset and I still am. It was only Wednesday at 3 o'clock that I found out."

Vanessa also claimed Paramount were behind the decision.

She added: "It apparently comes from Paramount, who bought Channel 5.

"They want to show Paramount movies every afternoon at two. It doesn’t cost them any money because they already own them.

"I don’t think I really came into the equation at all."

A Channel 5 spokesperson said: "Due to afternoon scheduling changes, Vanessa will be rested from July 17th.

"We thank Vanessa and her team at ITN for 18 months of warm, witty, wise and searingly honest shows.

"Vanessa remains a valued member of the Channel 5 family and we are discussing future projects together."
