Brooke Vincent has taken career break inspiration from Adele.

The former Coronation Street star, 34, recently joined rival soap Hollyoaks, and she is planning to channel her inner Hello hitmaker by working for a couple of years and then having "loads of time off".

Brooke - who has two sons, Mexx, six, and Monroe, five, with her pro footballer fiancé Kean Bryan - told The Sun newspaper's TV Mag: "My aim in life is to have the Adele ratio of working a couple of years, having loads of time off, then working again for a couple of years.

"That’s not yet happened..."

Brooke is to portray counsellor Abigail in the E4 soap, after penning a one-year deal.

She added: "I’m here for 12 months, so there’s room for Abigail’s story to develop."

Brooke - who is best known for playing Sophie Webster on Coronation Street from 2004 to 2019 - revealed in April she had been cast in Hollyoaks.

The star told how she will be involved in a "powerful storyline" on the E4 soap.

She announced on Instagram: "So excited to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks for such a powerful storyline.

"I am so grateful for this opportunity to be back on screen playing a brand new character plus my family will be happy I’m back in a full time job haha! (sic)"

Brooke previously admitted she would be keen to return to Corrie now her children are older.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I feel like Corrie for me is home.

"Whenever, if ever, they ask me, I’d love to go back and see them. It’s a different type of job now we’ve got the boys. I’ve got a lot of friends there, it’s like my family.

"It’s such a lovely place to work, so definitely, I feel like I’ve had such a long time off that I’ve been able to enjoy my children without the schedule of how hard it can sometimes be.

"I think obviously now they’re a bit older and they’re a bit more independent, and there’s obviously the opportunity to take on more work.

"It’s the adult conversation, routine, it’s always a gorgeous place for me to work, and I have gone off and worked in different environments with different people, but Corrie is a huge part of me, and I feel incredibly lucky to have that."
