Lisa Faulkner has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 54‑year‑old presenter - best known for fronting John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen alongside her TV chef husband John Torode, 60 - is in the early stages of the illness and has already undergone major surgery, with a course of radiotherapy set to follow.

Explaining her radio silence, she told fans in a video update on Instagram on Thursday (02.07.26): “I know I’ve been very quiet on here, reason being I have had to have surgery for the early stages of breast cancer.

“I had surgery two weeks ago, it was quite a big op but it’s all good and I’ve my results back and they’ve got everything out.

“So it’s all clear and I just need now to have some radiotherapy in a few weeks.

“I just wanted to say I’ve got a bit of healing to do but I’m good. I’m well and feeling so much better and I’m so grateful I went for my mammogram.

“I just wanted to say don’t put them off, go, because they found this and without that mammogram it wouldn’t have been picked up.

“Thank you to our wonderful NHS and the fact we can have these mammograms and we can get treatment early.”

Earlier this year, Lisa said she was trying to embrace life in her 50s, particularly as her mother Julie passed away from throat cancer aged just 44.

The former Holby City actress told HELLO! magazine: "I feel lucky to get to an age where you've got more to give and you're not invisible. Women are brilliant and we're picking each other up and looking out for each other.

"Life's short. My mum died when she was 44 and didn't get to have that second act. So I grab it."

This year saw Lisa return to the stage for the first time in over 20 years, in the touring adaptation of the 1992 film Single White Female.

Lisa was keen to work on the project as soon as she read the script.

She explained: "It reads really fast and like a film, so I was excited about it. I remember watching (the film) and thinking it was brilliant; I loved Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

"What's exciting is that (scriptwriter) Rebecca Reid has brought it up to date. It's in the world of social media and they're older. It's funny; the people who were my age when we watched it are all mums with late-teen daughters (now)."
