Strictly host Johannes Radebe makes surprise announcement that will thrill viewers
Johannes Radebe is fronting Strictly Come Dancing alongside Emma Willis and Josh Widdicombe, and the show's former pro has made a surprise announcement that will delight fans.
Strictly Come Dancing's Johannes Radebe will keep performing despite landing the programme's prestigious hosting job.
On Tuesday (19.05.26), the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance show's bosses announced that the star will transition from being a pro to a presenter with Emma Willis, 50, and Josh Widdicombe, 43, after Tess Daly, 57, and Claudia Winkleman, 54, quit in December 2025.
Strictly Come Dancing took to its Instagram Stories on Wednesday (20.05.26) and posted three videos of the trio preparing for their official photo shoot.
Johannes - who joined the programme in 2018 - made the surprise announcement after Josh asked him how it feels "not being part of that dancing team and having to interview them" instead.
Johannes said: "Listen, I’m not hanging up my dancing shoes as yet. That I’m definitely not doing. I cannot, I mean, what is my life without a Cha Cha Cha?”
Strictly Come Dancing 2024 Christmas special contestant Josh quipped: "I feel the same, that’s how I feel every morning."
Emma joined the pair in a separate video, and Josh declared landing the hotly contested Strictly presenter gig as "the most exciting thing in my life, that I’ve ever kept to myself".
Emma admitted: "I still can’t find words because my tummy is just flipping consistently.
"I would imagine it’s how you feel when you know you’ve got to walk down the stairs, 'Dancing the Cha Cha!' and everything goes to jelly. That’s how I feel thinking about what we’re about to do."
Johannes responded: "It’s petrifying, but I can’t tell you how exciting it is."
And in a third video, Josh told the camera that he does not feel as glamorous as Emma and Johannes.
The entertainer said: "I’ve just realised that I’ve been booked to present something with two of the most striking people on television, and I look like me. Absolute disaster.
"Emma is one of the great TV hosts of our generation, and Johannes is one of the great dancers of our generation, and I’m here as well."
And Josh cannot wait until the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing kicks off in September.
"I'm looking forward to the first episode because I think it'll be the only episode in the history of Strictly where the presenters are more nervous than the dancers.
"It'll be great."
