TV star Alison Hammond to host reboot of famous ITV show
Alison Hammond has agreed a deal to host the reboot of Name That Tune.
Alison Hammond is set to host a reboot of ITV’s Name That Tune.
The 51-year-old star has previously been suggested as a possible host of Strictly Come Dancing, but she's now agreed to present the Name That Tune reboot, with the show expected to air on Saturday nights.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper: "Although execs know she is free to take up offers from other channels, Alison is very much seen as an ITV face, and the channel are keen to maintain that link.
"She already hosts This Morning and For the Love of Dogs for the channel, but this would arguably be her biggest gig to date with ITV.
"It remains to be seen exactly when it would air, but after being touted as a host for Strictly this show might end up seeing her go head-to-head with [Strictly]."
Alison - who also presents The Great British Bake Off and Your Song on Channel 4 - is considered the perfect candidate for the presenting role, and she's excited by the opportunity.
Alison explained: "As a massive music lover, my biggest challenge as a host will be trying not to grab the mic and start singing along when one of my all-time favourite tunes comes on! And trust me … that will take serious self-control!
"I grew up absolutely loving the original show so being part of this now feels like a real full-circle moment."
Alison lost her mother, Maria, to lung and liver cancer in 2020 - but she's convinced that her mum would feel proud of her and of what she's managed to achieve in her career.
The TV star - who first found fame as a contestant on Big Brother, before joining This Morning - previously told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “This Morning was always a staple in our family home growing up. It’s so bittersweet to know that this has happened and she’s not here to see.
"Having said that, I do still feel her presence. It feels like my mum is still looking out for me in a strange way."
