Peep Show star Matt King has been hospitalised with a rare form of stroke which left him "initially paralysed".

The 58-year-old actor played Super Hans in the hugely popular Noughties comedy series and he has taken to Instagram to tell his 23.5k followers about his medial emergency.

King revealed he suffered a stroke of the spinal cord on Sunday (26.04.26) and had to be rushed to The Royal Sussex County Hospital where is now recuperating.

Posting a photo of himself resting in bed next to a teddy bear, he wrote: "It’s true. I had a rare stroke of the spinal cord on Sunday. I was initially paralysed but was rushed to The Royal Sussex and the staff have been amazing."

King then made reference to Series 7 Peep Show episode A Beautiful Mind in which his alter ego Super Hans gives up all substances and then "accidentally runs to Windsor" after the "endorphins kicked in".

He added: "Can walk again, a bit. My legs were jelly, man. It didnt feel f*****g brilliant. Thank you for all the love and kindness.”

Matt has been inundated with messages of support from his fans and followers since revealing his condition.

His Peep Show co-star Vera Graziadei - who played Elena - asked fans to pray for him yesterday as she wrote on Instagram: “Peeples, let’s send some prayers and love to our dear friend and bloody brilliant actor and human – Matt @thatmattkingfella who needs it now.

“Health issue so send your love and support to him!”

One fan replied to Matt by saying: "The fact that you had a stroke and still had the humour to joke about your legs being jelly says everything. You’re an inspiration Matt. Get well soon.”

Another follower commented: "Love and good vibes to a legend."

A third fan again made reference to Super Hans by writing: "Nothing a relaxing hit of c***k can't fix! Get well soon."

Matt reunited with his Peep Show co-stars David Mitchell, Olivia Colman, Isy Suttie and Sophie Winkleman for The Great Peep Show Christmas Bake Off which aired on Channel 4 on Christmas Day last year.

The sitcom which follows the exploits of flatmates Mark Corrigan (David Mitchell) and Jez Usbourne (Robert Webb) aired for nine series between 2003 and 2015 and has continued to find an audience in new generations obsessed with the pair's hopeless attempts to have normal and fulfilling lives.
